COUNTRY ROADS TRAIL

ABOUT COUNTRY ROADS TRAIL INC.

OUR MISSION (per official Charter filed with the State of West Virginia):

The Country Roads Trail Inc. (CRT) shall be operated exclusively for/to pursue the development, operation, promotion, and maintenance of an Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) trail system in northern West Virginia benefiting the local communities through promoting safe and responsible OHV operation, providing access to public and private OHV trails, OHV related tourism, and small business opportunities.  Country Roads Trail, is a service disabled, veteran owned non-profit incorporated with the State of West Virginia. The organization is recognized as 501c (3) Non-Profit status with the IRS and the State of West Virginia.

CRT is a volunteer and membership driven organization of OHV enthusiasts and community leaders.  CRT is committed to growing and developing all types of recreational OHV activities including creating and encouraging outdoor events that are enjoyable and safe for the entire family while promoting the growth of social and political acceptance of OHV activities.  CRT works with local, regional, state, and federal government agencies and private landowners to better implement, maintain, and develop standards for responsible recreational OHV activities and opportunities on public and private lands including, but not limited to, the State of West Virginia.

OUR TRAILS:

CRT does not own any land or trails.  All of our "trails" are Preston County WV public roads and they range from hardtop and gravel, to quite primitive dirt tracks; but all are completely legal and accessible to the public.  You might ask then, “Why do we need an organization like CRT if all the trails are public roads?”  In addition to community relations our avid group of riders is laying down GPX tracks every time we ride, sorting out viable tracks from dead end roads, driveways and gated property.  CRT has organized a large collection of known good riding loops from our past events and other events in the county into an archive of GPX files that are available to our members.  By sharing our local knowledge and local experience, we can make riding Preston County WV less intimidating and more enjoyable.   IT'S TIME TO EXPLORE THE MOUNTAINS

OUR VISION:

CRT’s hope is to make northern West Virginia a destination for OHV enthusiasts.   We envision a future that will provide visitors with a safe place to park or spend the night, a place to get a bite to eat or a little fuel, maps and signage for public and private OHV tracks and above all else, a stress-free ride that is enthusiastically supported by the local community.   We are still at the very beginning of this vision; please join us to help make it a reality!
